Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank with Sweet Iron Correctional High Ported Barrel (MB 27PB HP) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. About the mouthpiece: the 27PB HP is a Myler correctional mouthpiece, a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port is 2", which is higher than the either 27LP or 27PB; the added height allows more room for the tongue to pass under the bit and swallow but may incur some palate pressure. A horse with a thicker tongue or lower palate is more likely to feel more palate pressure. The angles of the port are pronounced, so when the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece collapses, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue. The curved mouthpiece wraps the horse’s mouth, allowing more space for the tongue under the bit. Because this mouthpiece collapses and the angles of the port are pronounced, it offers very quick control. Between the higher port and the curve, this mouthpiece offers quite a bit of tongue relief. This mouthpiece also has Independent Side Movement . For a mouthpiece with the same benefits but a lower port, see the 27PB. For the same mouthpiece with no Independent Side Movement, see the 27. For the curb (solid) version of this mouthpiece but with same tongue relief but milder tongue pressure and Independent Side Movement, see the 43HP.
